my hands

i rise like vapour.

silenced by the universe's

call.

poet without words.

bouncing

surface to surface

brain unwrapping.

only elastic

then stillness.

when stopped

i dissolve—

soundless

stand

behind me.

if you had known how ordinary it is
you would laugh at it.

your novels, tracts,
points and views—
silver ashes
hilarious.

the puzzles of DNA
the new physics—
enduring as tinsel.

we would look at each other
laughing till our faces burned red

before This, That strikes you clean
like a bell through the air.

if only i could have felt
how ordinary it is.

Do not touch.

Go beyond fingers,

Lips and loving.

Eyes are shut open

Against the breath

Of knowing.

Go beyond zero.
